THANK YOU to all the Buyers and Underbidders, and their Advisers, for your support at our very successful 2017 Ram Auction. Thank you to everybody in attendance on the day, we appreciate your interest in our genetics and the assistance that many provided in making the day a success.

Spirited bidding took Lot 1 Poll Boonoke 160540, the 2017 Riverina Ram of the Year and 2017 NSW Junior Ram, to $46,000 before he was knocked down to Nigel & Brett Kerrin of the Kerrin Poll Stud at Yeoval. Initially identifying PB160540 as an exceptionally well muscled ram with a great fleece, it was PB160540’s ASBVs that confirmed he was a sire compatible with the Kerrin Poll Stud’s breeding objectives of growth, fleece weight and fertility.

Ten of the fifteen shedded Poll Boonoke rams were secured by stud breeding operations in NSW, Queensland and South Australia. Haddon Rig returned to purchase three Poll Boonoke rams, paying to a top of $25,000 for PB160810. Ryan & Sarah Kluska’s Kiandra Stud operating in conjunction with the Ridgway Advance Stud at Bordertown, SA, and represented by Michael Elmes, SmartStock, purchased Poll Boonoke 161923 for $24,000. Russell Jones went to $18,000 for PB161970 for his Darriwell Stud at Trundle, NSW. Geoff & Bernadette Davidson paid $16,000 for Lot 3, PB161828, for their Moorundie Poll Stud at Keith, SA. Other stud buyers included Old Cobran, Landsdowne, Barcaldine Downs, Woodpark Poll 2 and Hilton Heath.

The top priced Wanganella ram went to return buyer Rodger Matthews of the Borambil Merino Stud at Corowa, NSW who paid $19,000 for Lot 20, W160887. John & James Graham secured Wanganella 160510 for their breeding operation at Morundah, NSW for $16,000. Michael Keatley, Jamestown, SA went to $12,000 to acquire Wanganella 161730. Roger Fiebig added a horn sire to his poll sire purchase for Hilton Heath at Mt Pleasant, SA paying $8,000 for Wanganella 160102. Other Wanganella shedded ram buyers included return buyers Barry Green at Parkes and the Rowling Family at Ungarie, while new buyers from Victoria were Bundoree-Nerrin-Nerrin at Darlington and R & N Kirk at Berrimal.

Volume buyers at the auction were the Finlay Family at Morven, NSW with 14 Poll Boonoke and Wanganella rams, Don McKenzie at Coonamble, NSW with 12 Poll Boonoke rams, the Wadonga Partnership at Nyngan with 12 Poll Boonoke rams and Griffiths Pastoral, also at Nyngan, with their 14 Poll Boonoke rams.

We are very appreciative of the 52 businesses that were successful in purchasing rams from the Wanganella and Poll Boonoke Studs at our auction, we are always heartened when buyers return to purchase their ram requirements from our Studs and are particularly grateful to have had the opportunity to supply 15 new businesses at this year’s auction.

Private ram selections of flock grade rams are available by contacting Angus Munro and semen orders can be submitted on-line.
