Demand for polled Merinos continues to strengthen with the Industry’s focus on dual purpose production. A strong belief in the potential of polled Merinos led Otway Falkiner to establish the Poll Boonoke Stud in 1934. Now 80 years of polled Merino breeding later, the Poll Boonoke sheep remain inherently fertile and early maturing; big framed, plain bodied Merinos growing heavy fleeces of long stapled, soft, medium wool.
Favoured in Queensland for many years, the demand for Poll Merinos is increasing in other areas as streamlined, dual purpose production is demanded by Merino breeders.
